Yoga | Sparks Lake

During the summer I had this idea to take a little mini vacation to get out of Portland for a few days. I’ve always wanted to visit Bend, Oregon but never had the opportunity. I figured end of summer/beginning of fall would be a great time to get away for a few days. I started researching places to stay and things to do and quickly realized that there were so many beautiful places that would be great to do some shoots for my book. Bend is just far enough away to make it a chore to drive out and back

Khino & Kieron | Men’s Training

Again, continuing to get caught up one some retouching from the summer here’s a new set of Men’s Training images. As I’ve been working through these images it’s making me miss the longer days of summer. Fall is my favorite time of year but there’s something really nice about getting up earlier than most for a 5:30am shoot to take advantage of the great morning light. This set of images was really trying to show off some of the Nike Training attire but also the SKLZ training equipment. I basically had Khino and Kieron go through a workout using the

Nike X-Ray Tights

A few weeks ago I came across these really cool women’s Nike tights that have a print on them that looks like an x-ray. Maybe it was because I was in the Halloween mood but I thought they would look great for a night running shoot. So, I ordered a pair and booked a model to do a quick little test shoot. In the end, the tights were a lot harder to photograph than I thought but I’m really happy with how the final images turned out. Check them out below:

A few weeks ago I met up with one of my old college teammates as she was passing through Portland. She contacted me to let me know that she would be in town for the day and wanted to know if I wanted to do a test shoot. Of course I wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to catch up with her and at the same time get some great images for my portfolio. I had been wanting to get out to the Oregon coast to do a surf styled shoot and it seemed like a pretty good fit

Here’s something new and a little different. A shoot created completely with natural light. No strobes. No reflectors. Nothing but beautiful afternoon sunlight. Although I love creating Sportraits it’s nice to be working on a completely different for my portfolio. I wanted to create something that was a little more raw and natural versus the super lit and processed look that you normally find in my work. The basic concept behind the shoot was a track & field athlete (a hurdler to be specific) going through a normal day of training. There will definitely be more work like this coming

Here are some recent photos I took during a test shoot with a model from Sports and Lifestyle Unlimited. As I’ve mentioned before on the blog, it’s getting to be that time of year where it’s really difficult to schedule anything due to weather. This shoot probably took over a month to sort our her schedule, my schedule and find a time where it wouldn’t be raining. When we met up at sunrise, the city was clouded in and made it difficult to shoot with a fast enough shutter speed to stop motion. A few weeks ago I bought a

I apologize for taking so much time in between posts. The past month was spent moving to a new apartment and you never realize how much work it is until you are in the thick of things. I didn’t find the time to take many photographs (let along blog) but now that I’m all settled hopefully the blog won’t get ignored so much. As I’ve mentioned on countless occasions here, I’m trying to transition from a photographer who has just one look to a photographer who has a diverse portfolio of work. A part of this is breaking away from

Sports Lifestyle: Running

About a month ago I was asked to do a test for a company and I posted some of the images that I submitted. You can find the old post here. That post goes into detail about some other things but you can see the images that were sent in. The company has some pretty strict guidelines on how they want their images processed and exactly what you can do with them. Since then, I’ve been wanting to go back and rework the images on how I normally would and get them ready to be uploaded to a lifestyle section
