Skateboarding

First off, I want to welcome you all to the new blog interface (if you’re reading this in an RSS feed make sure you click through so you can see the new site)! I gave it a face lift this week and hopefully it’s a little bit easier to get around now. I’m still working on the finishing touches so if there’s anything else you would like to see or any changes you would like to be made let me know and I’ll try to incorporate them. I’ve also updated the gear sections (specifically my cameras and lenses). If you are interested in seeing some of the gear I use you can check it out there.

The last update is I’m now going to be releasing a newsletter a couple times a year. It will mostly involve some updates of stuff that I’m working on (some BTS stuff for any of you photographers or retouchers who are interested) as well as a look at what’s coming up in the future. If you are interested, feel free to subscribe to the right. Just enter your email and you’ll be included on the list. The first issue is slated to go out  sometime in October.

Now, back to the post…

Continuing to catch up on some of my old posts here’s another shoot that I did right before my move. Again for this project I worked with Portland MUA/Stylist, Destiny Taylor, who contacted me about a skateboarder friend of hers that she thought I should photograph. I didn’t have a ton of time so I told her to book him for a short session in the studio and we could try to do a couple different looks.

Initially, I tried to do something lighter and brighter but I realized that I wanted something much more moody for a guy covered in tattoos. I pretty much just told him to be himself, do a couple different tricks and we’d find something that we liked. In the end, I think we were able to get some good shots of him in a short period of time. If you want to check out the images in higher resolution head over to my portfolio website and see them there.

This summer has been busy with the move and also a couple trips back to Oregon. Some of the new UO stuff will start popping up on the blog and I’ll be posting a BTS time-lapse video of my retouching for one of the projects (something I hope to do more of in the future). September is also going to be a month where I’m going to focus on some personal projects so I’ll have some really cool conceptual images coming soon. Stay tuned!

Hey, like this post? Why not share it with a buddy?
