I had a chance to head up to the Northern Oregon Coast to a spot that I’ve been looking forward to shooting for a long time. To say the least, I’m not completely happy with the images I came out with but it was nice to recharge the batteries for a few days out at the coast.
These are the famous Haystack Rocks and I was hoping to get a little better sunset but you work with what you are given. It’s pretty much a traditional shot you’d see if you’d type “Haystack Rocks” into google; a colorful background with the silhouetted rock figures in the front. I used one of the more under exposed images to get the colors to stand out and a greater silhouette effect. Hopefully, I’ll have a chance to go back sometime in the future and get a couple more shots. But, like I mentioned, at least I was able to get out and recharge the batteries for a while.
Slowly, I”m making the transition to the two new sites. Unfortunately, I’m having some issues with the portfolio website. In order to get there you have to go to http://zachancell.com. The problem is, if you go to http://www.zachancell.com, it takes you to the old website (which has now been removed) and has been replaced by a does not exists page. It’s a problem that I’m working to get solved and hopefully regain the traffic that I am losing.
The good news is, you can go check out the new site as long as you remember to remove the www. from the domain address. I’m happy with the results and it looks like this is going to be a good combination. It should be a great way for me to convey a more professional message and hopefully way easier for all of you to navigate through the images (I had a few complaints on the slideshow feature on the last site).
As far as work goes, I’m working with the University of Oregon Athletic Department again to finish up another addition to the project that I completed a month or two ago. Besides that, I’m working on the marketing aspect (the first step was getting the site nailed down) of the business and hopefully getting my name up in Portland, Oregon to see what will happen once graduation comes along.
My goal is to keep this site updated more frequently than the last, I’m working on a tutorial for a friend of mine that he’ll be posting on his site (as well as I will on mine). But, I’m going to try to have weekly or every other week photoshop tips of what I use on the majority of my images. I’m also hoping to add a links blog every so often of things that you should be checking and maybe even some product and book reviews. I have a stack of about 10 photography books that I’m working through and hopefully I’ll have some good info to send your way.
Please let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see from my end. This blog is my attempt to help others, so in order to help, I’m always looking for suggestions for blog topics. Shoot me an email or comment on this post of things you’d like to see and I’ll do my best to help you all out.
Keep checking back!
